Job Description Job Description About the Role: The HVAC Service
Technician Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal
performance, safety, and reliability of heating, ventilation, and
air conditioning systems across residential, commercial, and
industrial settings. This position involves leading a team of
technicians to diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC equipment while
providing technical guidance and support. The lead technician is
responsible for coordinating service schedules, managing complex
troubleshooting tasks, and ensuring compliance with industry
standards and safety regulations. Success in this role results in
enhanced system efficiency, reduced downtime, and increased
customer satisfaction. Additionally, the HVAC Service Technician
Lead serves as a key liaison between management, clients, and field
technicians to facilitate smooth operations and continuous
improvement. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or
equivalent. EPA Section 608 Certification for handling
refrigerants. Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC service and
repair. Proven experience in a lead or supervisory role within an
HVAC service environment. Valid driver’s license with a clean
driving record. Preferred Qualifications: Associate degree or
technical certification in HVAC technology or related field. NATE
(North American Technician Excellence) Certification. Experience
with building automation systems and energy management controls.
Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems including chillers,
boilers, and rooftop units. Familiarity with computerized
maintenance management systems (CMMS). Responsibilities: Lead and
mentor a team of HVAC service technicians, providing technical
expertise and support during installations, repairs, and
maintenance. Diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC system issues
using advanced tools and techniques to ensure timely and effective
resolution. Coordinate daily service schedules, prioritize work
orders, and manage resources to meet customer expectations and
project deadlines. Ensure all work complies with safety standards,
local codes, and company policies, promoting a culture of safety
and quality. Maintain detailed service records, prepare reports,
and communicate effectively with clients and management regarding
system status and recommendations. Skills: The HVAC Service
Technician Lead utilizes strong diagnostic and mechanical skills
daily to identify and resolve complex HVAC system issues
efficiently. Leadership and communication skills are essential for
managing and mentoring the technician team, ensuring clear
instructions and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Organizational skills are applied to coordinate schedules, manage
resources, and maintain accurate documentation of service
activities. Technical proficiency with HVAC tools, safety
protocols, and industry regulations ensures all work is performed
to the highest standards. Additionally, problem-solving and
customer service skills are critical for addressing client concerns
and delivering solutions that enhance system performance and
satisfaction.
