controls in quality and production reliability in the beverage
industry.This position is responsible for administering policies
and programs which ensure organizational products and processes
meet established quality standards. Provides guidance and day to
day management for a beverage manufacturing facility to ensure
products are manufactured in accordance with any federal, local,
and system requirements. Essential Functions
- Leadership role providing development and implementation of
quality initiatives ensuring Food Safety, Packaging Quality and
Product Quality
- Serve as the primary plant contact for all quality assurance
initiatives, customer audits, food production
permitting/certifications, federal and local agency
audits/inspections,
- Manage the day to day operation of all quality functions:
inspection, supplier management, quality engineering,
corrective/preventive actions, production documentation, product
traceability, etc
- Provide all training related to food safety, product quality,
and crisis management training
- Improvement of production process and the development and
implementation of new systems affecting the quality control
department.
- Design implement and document procedures for process control,
process improvement, testing and inspection.
- Establish and implement metrics (process capability, control
charts, measurement quality for monitoring system effectiveness and
to enabling managers to make sound decisions regarding production
quality.
- Track, analyze, and lead root cause analysis for all quality
and customer complaint issues within the plant
- Ensure compliance and record keeping for all mandated quality
checks, testing, sampling and sanitation activities within the
plant
- Monitor the microbiological program; collect and conduct
microbiological analysis of product and process samples when
necessary
- Perform water testing equipment evaluations and
calibrations
- As the Food Safety Program Coordinator, HACCP Coordinator and
SQF Practitioner the position is accountable for the success of the
food safety program and regulatory reviews of GMP, HAACP, SQF, and
sanitation programs.
- Ensure that all contract manufacturers and suppliers have
approval for food grade production and there is no compromise to
food product safety
- Ensure all labeling and nutritional information is within
regulatory compliance
- Manage budgeting, purchasing and inventory of Quality
department operating supplies such as filters, chemicals and lab
supplies
- Responsible for the training of Quality Technicians and
continually monitoring their performance and competencies, provide
leadership, coaching, and discipline as needed
- Assist the Research & Development team with formulation
adjustments, product evaluations, ensuring formulations and
procedures meet shelf life and regulatory compliance, and product
launch activities
- Maintain a safe work environment and support all plant safety
programs
- Assist with weekend and holiday coverage as
neededQualifications:Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in
Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry,
MicrobiologyPCQI certification preferredSQF and HAACP
Certifications Required Minimum 7 years' experience in quality,
operations, R&D, process engineering, technical service
management in food industry Minimum 3 years quality control
laboratory experience in a food/beverage manufacturing environment
Demonstrated familiarity with quality, FSMA, HAACP, GMP, GFSI
auditing (BRC SQF)Knowledge in multiple areas of operational
Beverage manufacturing (Hot Fill, Carbonated, Pasteurized, Shelf
Stable, Low Acid, Water, Tunnel Pasteurization, Blending, CIP,
HTST, sanitation program. Must have good computer and math
skillsAbility to read, write, and communicate effectivelyPhysical
Requirements:Ability to perform repetitious work;Ability to lift 25
lbs.Repeatedly push and pull up to 50lbsAbility to stand and walk
for a minimum of 80% of shiftSquatting, pushing/pulling, and
climbing up to 50% of shift.Twisting, grasping, reaching, turning,
stooping, and lifting up to 80% of shift.
