Job Description:
The VA of Southern Nevada Healthcare System is recruiting for
physicians to work in the Administrative Medicine Department as a
Compensation and Pension (C&P) Physician.
Full Time and Part Time Key Requirements: Must be a U.S.
CitizenMust be B/E or B/C The physician selected will perform
duties at the VAMC medical center on a regular schedule of
Monday-Friday from 0730-1600 with one-half hour off for lunch. The
scope of practice for the C&P Physician will include but is not
limited to:
Conduct Compensation and Pension examinations on Veterans and
Active-Duty Service members utilizing VBA formatted worksheets.
Provide a physical, emotional, and cognitive assessment of the
individual examined (with the possibility that a medical opinion
could be requested. As part of the examination process the VBA
could request a complete review of the electronic medical
record).
Obtains medical history and performs physical examinations,
provides evaluation and establishes diagnosis of Veterans/Active
Service Members, orders and evaluates appropriate diagnostic
studies, conducts medical record review, makes assessments as to
the likelihood that presenting medical condition(s) are related to
military service and acts within the guidelines and quality
indicators set forth by the Office of Disability and Medical
Assessment (DMA). There is exclusion of treatment and prescription
in the C&P setting.
The individual must demonstrate the knowledge of the changes
associated with aging and possess the ability to evaluate veterans
based upon physical, psycho/social, cultural, safety and other
age-related factors.
The work of the C&P Physician is primarily in an office
environment and sedentary in nature. The work requires an elevated
level of concentration and emotional stamina.
The Incumbent participates in Primary Care coverage (if
applicable)
Participates in Quality Assurance activities
Participates in Protected Peer Review & pertinent peer chart review
activities
Participates in care Line staff meetings, Specialty Care Team
meetings and mandatory staff functions
Completes all mandatory training modules timely
Teaches house staff/students/in outpatient clinic as
appropriate
Completes required number of total credit hours and patient safety
hours annually
Must maintain active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Adheres to facility current policies and procedures and Medical
Staff By-law
Coordinates and supervises the scope of practice of assigned
mid-level and appropriate allied health practitioner staff to
ensure their rights and practice goals are achieved and integrated
expeditiously to benefit patient care.
Any other duties as assigned by Chief or Assistant Chief of
Administrative Medicine Service
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Benefits and Features Expected

percent government matching contributions.
To ensure compliance with an applicable preliminary nationwide
injunction, which may be supplemented, modified, or vacated,
depending on the course of ongoing litigation, the Federal
Government will take no action to implement or enforce the COVID-19
vaccination requirement pursuant to Executive Order 14043 on
Requiring Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination for Federal
Employees. Therefore, to the extent a VA job announcement includes
language requiring applicants to be fully vaccinated against
COVID-19 pursuant to Executive Order 14043, that requirement does
not currently apply to this Job Announcement. VA may request
information regarding your vaccination status, if selected, for the
purposes of implementing other workplace safety protocols, such as
