well as required skill sets. Position Summary: Responsible for
planning dosimetry and optimizing radiation treatments, ensuring
patients receive the correct dose, and monitoring radiation
exposure levels of staff and patients. Works directly with
radiology residents, fellows, and faculty while participating in a
patient's diagnosis and treatment. Assists with Radiation safety
program reviews and assists, develops, plans, and research projects
with residents and faculty in the areas of radiation safety by
optimizing imaging protocols. Develops and presents physics
curriculum for residency didactics. Job Requirement
Education/Experience: Master’s degree with specialized training in
medical physics, physics, or related field, and three (3) years of
experience in diagnostic clinical application in medical physics.
Licensing/Certification Requirements : Board certification by the
American Board of Radiology and certified by the Medical Dosimetry
Certification Board. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical
Requirements Knowledge of: Advanced radiology equipment and
software; in equipment certification (acceptance testing, annual
testing), shielding calculations, site planning, and technologist
QA/QC in Nuclear Medicine; adult and pediatric care, equipment,
supplies and practices; federal, state, local and accreditation
laws, regulations and standards; principles and practices of
medical care management and administration; quality assurance and
performance improvement principles and methods; department and
hospital safety practice and procedures; patient rights; age
specific patient care practices; infection control policies and
practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous
materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and
procedures. Skill in: Proficient in general diagnostic radiology,
ER and acute inpatient cases, with efficiency to be able to read
high volumes; development of curriculum; effective presentation
skills; using computers and related software applications;
communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse
socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining
effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the
course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Mobility to work
indoors in Radiology and use standard equipment, stamina to remain
seated and maintain concentration for extended periods of time;
vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and
speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone.
Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly
to move objects. As the position includes exposure to radiation,
physicists are required to wear a film badge, which is read
according to RPII regulations and adhere to radiation
policies/procedures established by the hospital. Reasonable
