Shipping and Receiving Associate – Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of all incoming and outgoing shipments within a warehouse or distribution environment. This role ensures that products are received, processed, stored, and shipped in a timely manner while maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting overall operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders or packing slips, and inspect for damage or discrepancies Accurately record and process received goods in inventory or warehouse management systems Prepare outbound shipments by picking, packing, labeling, and staging products for delivery Coordinate with carriers (UPS, FedEx, freight, etc.) to schedule pickups and track shipments Maintain organized storage of materials, ensuring proper labeling and stock rotation (FIFO when applicable) Perform regular inventory counts and assist with cycle counts and audits Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks (if certified) Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and shipping/receiving procedures Communicate with internal teams (purchasing, customer service, production) regarding shipment status or issues Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred 1 years of shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience preferred Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory or warehouse management systems Ability to lift and move heavy materials (typically up to 50 lbs) Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment Work Environment: Warehouse or distribution center setting May require standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods Exposure to varying temperatures depending on facility conditions
