Job Description:

JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapon's systems and air crews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges. JOB SUMMARY-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIESThe incumbent performs a variety of supervisory/management tasks involved in supervising work efforts of personnel assigned to Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H). --- Supervises the performance of work performed by ES&H employees assigned. Regular travel to and from The Nevada Test and Training Range remote locations is required and additional trips to The Space Test and Training Range in Colorado Springs as needed. --- Sets employee work schedules and accounts for time worked by section employees. --- Explains or interprets company policy to subordinates. --- Evaluates and documents employee performance. Makes recommendations on wage actions. --- Assists in the hiring process and makes related hiring recommendations on prospective employees when unit vacancies occur. --- Contributes to the development of operations/expense budgets for the group and assists the department manager in controlling costs and resources accordingly. --- Maintains a working knowledge of specific requirements imposed by regulatory agencies, the Air Force, and other customer requirements. --- Ensures implementation, and maintenance of ES&H written programs, systems, and procedures necessary to ensure environmental, safety and health of employees and the community. --- Enforces compliance of operations personnel with the established Environmental, Safety, and Health programs, guidelines, policies, and related proper practices. --- Provides POC to company technical employees, managers and customer representatives for project development, customer requirements, and as directed by the department manager. --- Provides weekly, monthly and semi-annual reports to the department manager as tasked. --- Must be a certified tower climber or be able to be qualified within six-months of hire date. --- Performs other related supervisory tasks and duties as directed. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIESEach employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to his/her job. WORKING CONDITIONSThis position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting (up to 30 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. The incumbent must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor duties may be performed on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet. Outdoor duties may be performed on gravel, or shingled roof. Climbing stairs, ladders, towers and scaffolds, indoors or outdoors is required. Grease or oil may be found on working surfaces. Government vehicle is used on an as needed basis. Ability to work in a field environment with some shift work, travel to remote locations is required with occasional overnight assignments. The foregoing conditions and physical requirements represent the general characteristics required to perform the essential functions for this job. In general, all positions may require standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching and crawling. Specific work assignments may include additional environmental conditions or physical requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. These specific requirements will be detailed in the job posting. Also, JT4 employees will only operate equipment that they have been fully trained on and/or certified to operate. If working in a training capacity, employees must be supervised at all times by a competent trained or certified company employee. Under no circumstances should employees use other employee's equipment without permission from their immediate supervisor or manager. Conversely, employees should not allow other JT4 employees or employees of another employer to use JT4 owned or assigned equipment without proof of training and approval of the shop manager. REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCEThe incumbent must possess a base of knowledge sufficient to oversee the performance of technically diverse tasks assigned to the section. Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to interface with and effectively direct subordinates. Must have an in-depth working knowledge of the technical concepts, principles and requirements associated with the work unit. Must have a practical knowledge of company policies, procedures and practices sufficient to perform as an effective supervisor. This knowledge and these skills may be obtained by graduating from a two to four year technical institute or college, or possess equivalent formal technical training or military equivalent and 5 or more years' experience in a directly related safety environment, including 2 or more years as a supervisor. An ASP (Associate Safety Professional) is preferred. Must qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and possess a current State issued driver's license.
