(Jacobs), and HII Nuclear Inc.ResponsibilitiesKey ResponsibilitiesDevelops, writes, reviews, and edits procedures, manuals, policies, plans, technical reports, project correspondence, committee charters, briefing packages, brochures, news articles, and other technical and administrative publications according to established format and quality standards.Researches and collects background information and technical data needed to write technical documents; analyzes the information for relevancy and rewrites the information in a clear, concise manner to meet authoritative requirements.Examines documents, ensures that the material is structured and formatted logically, and resolves inconsistencies.Organizes assigned document development projects, collects project-related information and data from interviews with subject matter experts (SME), and does research to support the project.Assists other Technical Writers to ensure that documents meet company-established quality standards and are completed on time.Assists customers through the document action request (DAR) process, including serving as Designee. May complete entire DAR process, including approval, on behalf of customer.Serves as SME for the directives management process and document management system and provides guidance to other employees as needed.Works with graphics specialists to design and prepare illustrations, charts, and diagrams for use in documents. Writes, edits, and develops technical documents for Department of Energy (DOE) review for approval to publish. Prepares DOE-approved documents for submittal to the DOE Office of Scientific and Technical Information as prescribed in DOE Orders.Coordinates with all levels of management to resolve problems that affect company procedure work-flow and quality.Stays abreast of current trends in technical and scientific terminology developments to assist authors in writing and editing technical documents.Meets established deadlines, monitors job progress, prioritizes work, and alerts supervisor prior to due date when schedules may not be met or assistance is required in work prioritization.Maintains document and resource files in a centralized location and tracks all job-related data.Performs related work as assigned by the supervisor.QualificationsDue to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.Bachelor's degree in related field and at least 5 years' of professional level experience or equivalent training and experience. Able to utilize independent judgment, creativity, initiative, and ability to apply knowledge and experience to resolve problems and compose technical correspondence and reports.Able to prioritize and schedule multiple activities in the most efficient manner and meet required deadlines.Able to communicate with all types of people in a tactful, professional, and effective manner.Able to remember extensive policies, procedures, terminology, schedules, personnel, and other details.Able to follow oral and written instruction, and follow through on all assignments.Able to deal with pressure of handling multiple tasks, complaints, frequent interruptions, and time constraints.Thorough knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.Familiar with MS Office and Adobe software applications, with advanced knowledge of MS Word, strongly preferred.Familiar with enterprise content software and document management software applications preferred.Able to delegate, direct, and supervise work of assigned personnel.Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.Must possess a valid driver's license.Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, "Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites," will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, "Counterintelligence Evaluation Program."Eligibility Requirements - To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age.
