MSTS is a limited liability company consisting of Honeywell International Inc. (Honeywell), Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (Jacobs), and HII Nuclear Inc.

This role as a Senior Technical Writer will support the Counter-Terrorism Operations Support (CTOS) Center for Radiological/Nuclear Training (CRNT) at our office in North Las Vegas, NV.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME) and Instructional Systems Designers (ISDs) to streamline project submissions and maintain continuity across projects.
  • Develop templates, styles, and formats for course development – to include incorporating Section 508 compliance.
  • Follow guidelines established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Training and Education Division (NTED) for document compliance.
  • Function as a Trusted Tester for CTOS to ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility.
  • Work in conjunction with other Technical Writing staff to meet deadlines and accomplish tasks.
  • Meet both internal and external contract deliverables. 
  • Assist with records management of templates and finalized documents.
  • Support and track internal submissions and approvals of CTOS course documents and other artifacts.

Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and at least 5 years of professional level experience or equivalent training and experience.
  • Experience in prioritizing and scheduling multiple activities in the most efficient manner and meet required deadlines.
  • Experience preferred in Instructional Design or training development.
  • Experience reviewing and editing expansive documents with flexible designs.
  • Experience editing documents in accordance with federal regulation documents/guidance, such as NFPA 472, FEMA Mandates, Occupational Safety and Health Organization (OSHA) regulations.
  • Ability to utilize independent judgment, creativity, initiative, and ability to apply knowledge and experience to resolve problems and compose technical documents.
  • Ability to cross-walk multiple documents, across multiple project, editing to maintain continuity and consistency.
  • Ability to communicate with team members and customers in a tactful, professional, and effective manner.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, frequent interruptions, and imposed time constraints.
  • Ability to work independently and in a remote working environment, if required.
  • Verifiable computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Verifiable training and experience working in Adobe FrameMaker®.
  • Effective oral and writing skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Applicant selected may be subject to a Federal background investigation to acquire a Department of Energy Q Clearance at a later date.
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license. 

Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’
