Job Description:

JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple ( western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and air crews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.


Perform general environmental and/or safety support services, investigations, and analyses and other directed assignments as either a member of a team or as an investigator.

1. Assesses and mitigates workplace hazards, perform studies and analysis, perform workplace inspections, conduct mishap and incident investigations, and generate reports.

2. Interprets applicable regulations and ensure compliance with OSHA, Air Force directives, and local safety policies and procedures.

3. Applies confined spaces, lockout/tag out, hazardous waste requirements, and industrialized operation procedures when needed.

4. Identifies and evaluates environmental and safety hazards and makes recommendations for corrective actions.

5. Participates in informal reviews, inspections, and audits using established procedures.

6. Assists in the maintenance and inventory of equipment and systems.

7. Analyzes data gathered from literature or collected from investigations.

8. Works under the direction of the ES&H Supervisor.

9. Maintains familiarity with the statutory requirements related to the environmental, safety, and/or health regulations.

10. Performs other related duties as directed.


Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to his/her job.


Most work is performed in a typical office environment. There is occasional lifting to 40 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. The incumbent must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. Frequent travel to work sites or other facilities to perform ES&H assessments is routine. The incumbent will also at times be required to climb towers and fly to remote locations in helicopters.

The foregoing conditions and physical requirements represent the general characteristics required to perform the essential functions for this job. In general, all positions may require standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Specific work assignments may include additional environmental conditions or physical requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. These specific requirements will be detailed in the job posting. Also, JT4 employees will only operate equipment that they have been fully trained on and/or certified to operate. If working in a training capacity, employees must be supervised at all times by a competent trained or certified company employee. Under no circumstances should employees use another employee's equipment without permission from their immediate supervisor or manager. Conversely, employees should not allow other JT4 employees or employees of another employer to use JT4 owned or assigned equipment without proof of training and approval of the shop manager.


A Bachelors degree in ES&H-related field (i.e., engineering, chemistry, biology, or other science) is preferred or the incumbent must have an in-depth working knowledge of the technical concepts, principles, and requirements associated with the work unit. This knowledge and these skills may be obtained by graduation from a two to four-year technical institute or college or from equivalent formal technical training or military equivalent and possess 6 or more years experience in a directly related technical working environment. The incumbent must have good written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills; and the ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. This position may require travel.
