Overview

Responsibilities
Engineering Integration is seeking a Senior/Principal
Electrical/I&C Engineer who will act as an Electrical/I&C
Engineer Subject Matter Expert in the Engineering Division's
Technical Requirements Capture team. This newly created team is
responsible for developing the technical requirements on various
projects.
Senior Electrical/I&C Engineer
Prepare and check design drawings, specifications, calculations,
system design descriptions, and stand detail development for
industrial and commercial building electrical systems.
Prepare electrical equipment bid specifications with review and
approval of proposals and submittals.
Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines, Authority Having
Jurisdiction, system engineers, facility managers, project
managers, and project engineers.
Build team relationships with technical and other company
organizations.
Work effectively as a team member and leader to ensure task and
project success.
Prepare work statements for complex subcontracts and procurements,
evaluate bids, and make recommendation for awards.
Define customer needs and develop scope of work for future
electrical systems.
Ensure design deliverables comply with laws, codes, orders, and
MSTS policies and procedures.
Perform other duties assigned by Management.
Principal Electrical/I&C Engineer
Prepare and check design drawings, specifications, calculations,
and system design descriptions for Electrical/I&C designs.
Prepare and check Electrical/I&C calculations with or without
the use of software.
Devise solutions to highly complex technical problems of broad
scope. Solutions may require resolving conflicting customer
expectations and design requirements, utilizing unconventional
technology and materials, and cross-disciplinary integration.
Develop complex projects with team members internal/external to
MSTS.
Work effectively as a team member and leader to ensure task and
project success.
Interpret and adapt guidelines for specific cases.
Evaluate processes, procedures, and work instructions to improve
performance.
Define customer needs and develop scope of work and technical
proposals.
Conduct or lead research; develop and design new instrumentation,
equipment, and procedures for testing and solving problems; present
papers; and keep abreast of new technological developments, methods
or materials, keeping management informed of important new
advances.
Direct the work of contractors and suppliers by ensuring their
efforts are integrated and focused on established objectives.
Interpret codes and standards within the discipline and ensure
processes and deliverables comply with laws, codes, orders, and
MSTS policies and procedures.
Prepare work statements for complex subcontracts and procurements,
evaluate bids, and make recommendations for awards.
Perform other duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications
Senior Electrical/I&C Engineer Level:
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering program accredited by the
Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) required
for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering degrees
Or, Calculus-based STEM bachelor's degree in engineering
Or, for Architects, Certification from the National Council or
Architectural Registration Board (NCARB)
Or Professional Engineer license
Plus at least 5 years' relevant experience. Skill building
experience must demonstrate either deeper technical specialization
or additional cross-disciplinary knowledge. Graduate research
experience may be recognized.
Graduate research experience may be recognized.
Experience in as-built process, analysis, and discovery of older
facilities that require modifications.
PE license is preferred but not required.
Experience developing design requirements and conducting design on
complex/related projects.
Ability to interpret codes and standards applicable to the
position
Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey
information to design team member and customers.
Ability to use, or interest in learning BIM and graphic design
software.
Ability to use Office Suite products.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Visio, etc.
Experience with the software/tools: 2D/3D Computer Aided Design;
Autodesk Inventor or equivalent, and modeling and analysis such as
Math CAD, MATLAB, or equivalent.
Experience with electrical system design including low and medium
voltage distribution systems, transformers, generators, motors,
relays, etc.
Capture existing electrical systems creating as-build
configurations as needed.
Develop and capture requirements for electrical and/or
communication systems, which may include sitewide electrical,
campus electrical, and/or facility electrical distribution;
standard phones, voice over IP phones, data network distribution,
outside plant design, inside plant cabling design, public address,
security system interface coordination with NNSS security
contractor, and other miscellaneous data type systems.
Develop requirements while coordinating with MSTS Electrical,
Power, and Information Technology (IT) departments to ensure
compatibility with their systems.
Prior Department of Energy complex work experience preferred but
not required.
The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in
North Las Vegas, Nevada.
Work schedule for this position will be 4/10's, Monday - Thursday
(subject to change).
Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen,
is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes
random drug testing.
Must possess a valid driver's license.

Annual salary range for this position is: $ 94,556.80 -
$173,097.60.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value,
