Samuels and Son Seafood, the nation's leading purveyors of fresh and frozen seafood has a--unique and exciting opportunity for the right person who is interested in working in purchasing.-- This position offers: the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, growth-focused culture, an opportunity for continuous advancement within the organization and a competitive compensation and benefits package.-- In-depth training is provideJob description:Strong ability to negotiate and secure best prices and termsStrong understanding of the global seafood marketplaceStudies global market prices and trends to aid in decision making based on accurate research and market conditionsMakes regular purchases of assigned items at best possible market prices based on sales flowIntroduce new items from suppliers to the various sales departmentsMake large scale commodity purchases at best possible market pricesIntroduce new items from suppliers to the various sales teamsStrong attention to detail in regards to product specifications and qualitySecures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliersAttends category specific trade shows as required.Coordinate inventory withing multiple warehouses.Skill Requirements:2 years or more purchasing experience (seafood/food preferred)Proven ability to work with Senior ManagementExperience in large commodity purchasingStrong analytical and excellent communication skillsDemonstrate collaboration, negotiation and influencing skillsExperience inventory control and sourcingAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyStrong knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and internet savvy
